A local man from Exmouth is planning on walking the entire coastline of the UK to raise funds for the RNLI.
Tim Jones, 33, and his 20 month old Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Monty, will be starting the walk at Exmouth RNLI Lifeboat Station at 10am Friday 20th January 2023 when he will be given a good send off by the volunteers. He will be walking ‘clockwise’ around the coastline visiting as many lifeboat stations as possible along the 8,000 mile route. He hopes to raise £500,000 for the lifesaving charity.
Tim said, “The walk is something I’ve wanted to achieve for a few years but circumstances have prevented me. I’ve always admired the difficult work of the RNLI volunteers and so choosing an appropriate charity to support was fairly easy. The route I’m taking will, I hope, include the Isle of Man and the Scottish Islands and I’ll be relying solely on the goodwill of the public to support me along the way in whatever way they can.”
Des White, Chair of Exmouth RNLI Fundraising Team, who plans to accompany Tim as far as Exmouth Marina when he starts his walk, said “This is an incredible challenge for Tim to take on and we are very pleased that he will be starting off from Exmouth. I hope everyone will help support Tim on his travels and, on behalf of everyone at Exmouth RNLI, would like to thank him for supporting the RNLI and wish him the very best of luck in his endeavours.”
Tim has set up two fundraising pages, one as a ‘survival’ crowdfunding page to help support him and Monty during their arduous efforts – see it here : https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/MontyTim
The second is for the RNLI fundraising page – see it here : https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/timsrnli
