Exmouth RNLI Lifeboat Station visits information and appeal for volunteer Guides

Exmouth RNLI have recently updated their Lifeboat Station Visits criteria to advise schools that they can now book guided visits to the station and are looking for volunteers to fill a number of Visits Guides vacancies.

With a gradual return to normal life Exmouth Lifeboat Station is keen to advise schools that now is the time to book a visit to the Station for the summer term 2022.

These tours will include a visit to both boathouses and to the associated rooms where the crews keep their kit ready for immediate action. In addition all groups will be given a talk on water safety in line with the RNLI’s continuing drive to reduce drownings off the coast. Overall the visit will take about 60 minutes for a class of 30 students.

As it has not been possible to accommodate many youth groups in the past 2 years due to Covid 19 restrictions schools are recommended to book early to avoid disappointment.

Current public visits to the lifeboat stations are between 11am to 3pm Saturdays and Sundays and then the same hours every day from 28 July 2021 for the duration of the summer school holidays.

There are currently several vacancies for volunteer Visits Guides at Exmouth RNLI Lifeboat Station and the lifesaving charity is appealing for volunteers to fulfill this important role.

Spreading the word about what our lifesavers do is crucial to raising water safety awareness, gaining new supporters and ultimately giving support to the charity that saves lives at sea.

  1. RNLI visits volunteers can make a real difference in ensuring that people arrive as visitors and leave as supporters.

  1. They have fun, meet new people and join a motivated and enthusiastic team who are making a difference.

  1. They learn new skills and gain experience to enhance their life skills.

  1. They gain the satisfaction of giving back and supporting a key national charity.

Exmouth RNLI Visits Guides give inspiring tours of the lifeboat station including groups of young people and adults and, in turn, raise the profile of the RNLI both nationally and locally and help raise important funds.
