Exeter’s Wilderness Medicine Society donates £150 to Exmouth RNLI

The Exeter University Students Guild Wilderness Medicine Society recently donated £150 to Exmouth RNLI following an outreach session to learn about water safety.

The event was organised and delivered by RNLI Lifeguards from Exmouth. Several students from the Society, whose aims include sharing knowledge and skills to provide medical care in challenging environments, attended the event on 4th April and took part in practical exercises during inclement weather.

Stefan Hudson, President of the Society, said “It was a very worthwhile and interesting visit and the various exercises we took part in were very enlightening. It made us all aware of just how powerful and cold the water could be. We were so impressed by all the difficult work and range of water safety and lifesaving initiatives involved we thought it only right to give a donation in gratitude.”

Chairman of the Exmouth RNLI Fundraising Committee, Robin Humphreys, said “We much appreciate the donation made by the Wilderness Medicine Society and are very pleased that these young students take a keen interest in our lifesaving charity to advance their knowledge of administering medicine and care in difficult conditions.”
