100 year old Winifred donates to Exmouth RNLI

Winifred Kerslake has recently donated over £300 to Exmouth RNLI from gifts she was given in lieu of her 100th birthday this year.

Winifred, who hails from Tiverton, is a long time RNLI supporter and thinks the lifesaving organisation is a ‘wonderful charity’ and regularly watches TV programs about the lifesavers, including ‘Saving Lives at Sea.’  Instead of gifts from relatives and friends for her 100th birthday on 20th May this year, Winifred decided to ask for donations to Exmouth RNLI and raised an incredible £310.

Des White, Chair of Exmouth RNLI Fundraising Team, visited Winifred this week and presented her with a special ‘thank you’ certificate.

He said, “It was wonderful to meet Winifred and hear about her keen interest in the RNLI and to congratulate her on her 100th birthday, for which she received a special birthday card from King Charles and Queen Camilla. On behalf of all the volunteers at Exmouth RNLI I would like to thank her very much for thinking of us in this way. Every penny of her kind and generous donation to our local lifesavers will be used for essential training and equipment for the volunteer Exmouth Lifeboat crews to enable them to continue their work saving lives at sea.”
